Award of the Purple Fretty – April 2014

Award of the Purple Fretty for the Scribes of the Barony of Middle Marches. Windsor-Newton gouache on pergamenata; calligraphy done in Higgins waterproof (blue and red) and non-waterproof (black) inks using a .7mm Brouse nib and Speedball sketching nibs.

The text reads:

Behold and hearken now to the words of Cellach, King by right of arms of the Middle Kingdom, and of Vukasin, Our Queen of love and beauty. We have heard of the great service that the Scribes of the Barony of Middle Marches hath rendered unto the Midrealm, specifically for the creation of the mountain of scrolls produced by them for the Kingdom’s Scribal Challenge. We do here publicly commend them and are pleased to bestow upon them the Award of the Purple Fretty. We grant unto them all rights and responsibilities attendant upon this award, and the right to bear the badge: Or, fretty purpure, without let or hindrance from any person. Given by the hands of Their Excellencies Marcus and Eilis this fifth day of April, Anno Societatis XLVIII (48) at Our baronial championship in Our beloved Barony of Middle Marches.
