Order of the Willow – October 2014

RedDragon2014WillowOrder of the Willow for Mughain nic Cairt Ciannact. Windsor-Newton gouache on pergamenata; calligraphy done in Higgins waterproof (blue, green, and red) inks and Dr. Martin’s black India ink using a .7mm Brouse nib.

The text reads:

Declare unto all that wee [sic] Annmarie, Queen of the Middle Kingdom by the right of arms of Cadogan our King and Defender of the Realm etc.

Punch list

(No, not a list of people/things to punch, but tasks to keep in mind)


  • The chemise appears to be quite simple, with no visible band at the wrist (open sleeve?) and perhaps only ornamented by a small bit of lace around the neckline
  • Chemise appears to be silk, but in regards to time and money will be have to be made from linen

Materials needed:

  • Chemise linen
  • Kirtle fabric (Brocade acquired)
  • Kirtle lining fabric
  • Gown fabric (Cotton velveteen acquired)
  • Headpiece fabric (silk?)
  • Pearls of various sizes
  • Gemstones for trim, necklace, headpiece, and hair ornament
  • Brooch
  • Lacing rings for sleeve attachments (cast metal?)
  • Trim or embroidery for gown and sleeves
  • (Optional stabbity thing for left shoulder)
